Fiorentina's star striker on Chelsea radar

Nikola Kalinic has been in scintillating form in Serie A this season, and his displays have caught the eye of the English giants

Struggling Premier League champions Chelsea could make a January move for Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic.

Current Blues front man Diego Costa has only found the net three times in his 11 league matches this season, leaving Jose Mourinho eager to land an in-form goalscorer.

The Croatian striker has been in sublime form for La Viola so far this campaign, bagging nine goals and contributing an assist in his 13 Serie A appearances.

Having only joined the Gigliati last summer, it is thought that Chelsea would have to pay a sizable fee to release Kalinic from his contract, which is set to run until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Should he make the move to West London, it would not be Kalinic's first time in England. He spent two seasons at Blackburn Rovers before leaving Britain to join Ukrainian club Dnipro, where he went on to finish runners-up to Sevilla in the Europa League in 2015.

Colombian striker Falcao and Frenchman Loic Remy are also on the books at Stamford Bridge, though the two have only started one Premier League game each.

The pair's lack of game time is evident in their goal tally, as their combined total stands at just one goal, which came courtesy of a Falcao header in a 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
